The normal use of lifts is to help people
reach the different stories of a building without having to climb any stairs.
The lifts help people to conserve their energy and breath and also the time to
access the different stories. The lift is an essential item in a building with
a large number of levels which is difficult to climb even
for healthy persons. Lifts are also used for various other purposes such as
storing cars in parking lots, use in salvage yards andthe lifting of heavy
materials in a production line.
Specifications of lifts
The lifts used for each purpose have
their own typical specifications. For example, a lift used to carry people can
be designed to carry six, eight or more people depending on the number of
people who may use it in the building. There are even custom lifts made for carrying one or two persons which are called capsule lifts. There may be lifts for carrying cars to a roof top parking
space or lifts with four posts which allow one car to be stored on top of
another.
Lifting Various Materials
These lifts can
also be used as a part of material handling equipment when heavy items have to
be taken from one floor to another or from one level to another. Service lifts
used in hotels also fall into this category. The lifts of this type are used in
factories and plants where the production line is divided into multiple floors.
The item at the end of a line on one floor is fed to the next stage on another
floor by carrying it up or down with the help of these lifts.
Scissor Lift Types
These lifts are a part
of material handling equipment which
uses the action if scissors to lift people to different levels in a shop floor
to work on equipment kept at different heights. The lifts can be used to lift
various types of material to different levels also. These lifts can be mobile or stationary. The
arms of the lift raise the platform to various heights when they act like
scissors opening up. The platform is lowered when the arms collapse like a
scissors being closed.
Special Lift Types
There are various
other types of custom lifts that are used by various companies for special
operations and built to serve specific purposes. Tall skyscrapers have lifts to
carry the people who wash glass panes on the different floors of the building.
Huge lifts are used by construction companies to carry people and material to
floors high above the ground where work is going on. Restaurants located on top
of TV towers in many cities of the world use express lifts to carry people to
the restaurant from the ground level. There are hybrid lifts which are compact
and maneuverable for use in shop floors. Maneuverable fork-lifts are used to
carry materials from one corner of the shop floor to others. All these lifts
save a lot of time and energy. To read more Click Here
